Volunteer Roles

We currently have a number of volunteers roles available; committee members, drivers and passenger assistants for our bus.

Each volunteer brings their own experiences and dedication to their role and all are equally as important. We hold regular volunteer forums to promote shared learning and training and have a volunteer’s representative present at committee meetings to ensure everyone’s opinions and thoughts are shared.

We are growing our existing team across a variety of areas. If you are interested in any of the following opportunities please get in contact for more information:

Volunteer Drivers

As the population of the 65+ community in Dundee increases so do the number of elderly people who are isolated and lonely. Help us to keep older people independent, safe and well in their own homes by being a volunteer driver. This enables older people to get to appointments, do their own shopping or enjoy meeting up with friends and family.

You will hold a full driving licence, have access to a suitable and reliable car and you must hold comprehensive insurance. You will be happy to collect our customers from their own home and drive them to their desired location. Where appropriate you may have to wait for a period of time before taking the passenger home.

Your responsibilities will include cash handling, light paperwork and you are required to become a member of the PVG scheme. All costs associated with your role as a volunteer will be met by Community Cars

Passenger Assistants

Community Cars launched a new service in November 2018 in partnership with Dundee City Council. The “Out and About” service takes our 65+ community  on short trips via mini-bus to various places in and around the Dundee area.  So that we can do this well, we need to recruit more volunteer passenger assistants to assist our customers on these trips. We run these trips, Monday to Friday between the hours of 9.30-2.30. If you think that you could commit 4 hours of your time on one day a week (or more!), between these hours then we would love to here from you.

Your responsibilities will include cash handling, light paperwork and you are required to become a member of the PVG scheme. All costs associated with your role as a volunteer will be met by Community Cars.

Committee Members

Community Cars is proving to be a necessary transport provision for the over 65 community in Dundee and we are looking to invite more people to join our management committee and help shape the development of this very exciting project.

We are currently looking for people with a range of skills including; marketing,  finance, HR, fundraising, and business development, as well as people looking to build upon current skills that people think could benefit DCT.

If you are interested in any of these roles, please send a CV and covering letter to Anne Hay or email AHay@number10.org
